I am glad to have the chance to introduce myself, call me Joe, I have been called much worse.
I call myself. a localist; my paintings depict scenes close to home, although I am traveling more to find painting sights. I prefer the rustic natural scenes: old trees, mossy rocks, rivers snd creeks, and occasionally cabins, fences, and roadways. Rarely I find people of interest, like in the "swimmers at Audra Park" painting, usually I am. too shy to ask people to co-operate.
I have spent most of my life with a small family, wife and two daughters, in a remote West Virginia mountain village named Helvetia, home to a number of local Swiss customs. I still have my lovely wife, and at times the daughters. In our senior years we have moved to a larger town, Buckhannon, still close to Helvetia.
I enjoy music: play guitar with fiddlers, and mandolins, and singers. I direct an occasional choir and am active in church
